Soar Chapel, Penderyn
Soar Chapel (a Welsh Independent Chapel) is situated on Chapel Row, Penderyn, near the Lamb Hotel.
Is is no longer active and is currently used for storage purposes.
It was built in 1860 and later rebuilt in 1912.
The founding of this Chapel was assisted by Nebo (Welsh Independent) Chapel, Hirwaun.
According to Alan Vernon Jones in his book, Chapels of the Cynon Valley (2004) : “The chapel interior has an attractive ceiling; original cast iron railings to the front forecourt; note the gallery, built in 1873, unusually has no pillar supports and is cantilevered and believed to be the only one of its type in the Cynon Valley. Seating for 500.”
