About Penderyn

Penderyn is a small rural village in the Cynon Valley, the northernmost village in Rhondda Cynon Taff, situated within the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Penderyn is home to many groups, clubs, societies and projects, a Junior School, two pubs, a thriving Community Centre and much else.

Penderyn is home to the world-famous Whisky Distillery of the Welsh Whisky Company.

A monthly Penderyn Farmers Market is held in the Community Centre and run by the Community of Penderyn.

Church and Chapel

Within the village of Penderyn there is St Cynog’s Church, Soar Chapel and Siloam Chapel.

Notable Penderyn People

  • David Wynne (1900 – 1983) was a prolific Welsh composer who was born in Penderyn
  • Nansi Selwood is a Welsh language writer and historian. In 2003, she joined the Gorsedd of Bards.
